राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की 156वीं जयंती के अवसर पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी दिल्ली स्थित राजघाट पहुंचे और बापू को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। इस दौरान प्रधानमंत्री ने महात्मा गांधी की समाधि स्थल पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की और मौन रहकर उन्हें नमन किया। गांधी जयंती पूरे देश में बड़े आदर और सम्मान के साथ मनाई जाती है, क्योंकि बापू ने सत्य, अहिंसा और स्वदेशी जैसे मूल्यों से न केवल भारत की स्वतंत्रता संग्राम को नई दिशा दी बल्कि पूरी दुनिया को शांति और सद्भाव का संदेश दिया। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने इस मौके पर अपने संदेश में कहा कि महात्मा गांधी का जीवन और उनके विचार आज भी हर पीढ़ी के लिए प्रेरणा का स्रोत हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि बापू का स्वच्छता, आत्मनिर्भरता और सत्याग्रह का संदेश आज भी उतना ही प्रासंगिक है जितना स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के समय था। इससे पहले देशभर में भी गांधी जयंती को लेकर विभिन्न कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए गए, जिनमें स्वच्छता अभियान, प्रार्थना सभाएं और संगोष्ठियों का आयोजन शामिल रहा। लोगों ने महात्मा गांधी की तस्वीरों और मूर्तियों पर पुष्प अर्पित किए और उनके आदर्शों को याद किया। दिल्ली के राजघाट पर प्रधानमंत्री के पहुंचने के साथ ही अन्य नेताओं और गणमान्य व्यक्तियों ने भी बापू को श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित किए।
